IMHO, some of the mixes I've made sound better than some of the officially released songs where available (i.e. Songs that I've had good luck with (mostly 1970s hits): The Air That I Breathe, Uncle Albert, I'm Not In Love The Year of The Cat, These Eyes, Amie (Pure Prairie League), etc. But, like I said, many of the ones I've made don't sound bad at all and I've had good luck doing some post-editing after doing the conversion to make things more discreet and placing things in different channels. A large factor is probably the song you begin with as well. While some things are discreet, it'll never be the same as a studio having access to multi-track tapes. I've found Goldwave much easier to use than Audacity. I usually work directly with WAV files, which I can play from a thumb drive on my Oppo player, and haven't had a need to create a disk. Obviously, they've added the ability to edit 5.1 (7.1, etc.) files. Recently they added a 2-channel to surround conversion that actually works pretty well. I've used it for many years primarily as a stereo editor, allowing me to change levels, cut and paste, fade-in, fade-out, etc. To purchase it the cost is $45-$60US depending on the license you get (annual or lifetime). I use Goldwave software, which isn't free but you may be able to get a demo copy. However, I've played around with converting stereo tracks to multichannel (5.1) with varying success. You won't be able to do it the same way a recording studio does as you don't have access to the same multi-track tapes they do.
SURCODE DTS ENCODER STEREO PC
Any experience with these?ĭo I need to pick up an external 5.1 sound card for my PC to encode to DTS? (I don't plan on playing back dts on my computer), what's the best software, can Audacity be used? I don't know how well they work and what level of spatial separation they provide.

SURCODE DTS ENCODER STEREO SOFTWARE
is there any software which can automate this process? I've read about Bigasoft Audio Converter, Apowersoft Video Converter and Surcode CD DTS (seems old. I want to make sure I don't go about it the 'old-school' way if there is an easy way to do it, with some automated software. Many of the how-to articles on the net are rather old, and involve essentially converting files, creating 6 mono files corresponding to the respective channel (adding reverb/delay/flanger, etc, adjusting EQ, etc as needed), then combining the tracks and making DTS. I would like to do what the title says: Convert several songs from CD to DTS encoded DVD 5.1.
